I answered a post on Craigslist yesterday.The woman who posted was feeling as if her life was going nowhere.I wanted to do the feel good thing and cheer her up.Instead I posted how I really felt.Don't for a moment think you are the only one having a tough time.Here is the post: "
Yeah,well,theres a lot of us.I am 47.I nearly died two years ago thanks to my own reckless behavior.I am lucky to be alive.Lucky to have a very young girlfriend.Lucky to have 2 supportive ex wives,great kids and an awesome grandson.A best friend who has stuck by me for 30 years.And every day it is a struggle not to slash my freakin wrists.Everything and I mean EVERYTHING makes me angry.The world around me scares the hell out of me.The fact that I may never work again makes me feel like a burden.My short term memory sucks and I rarely have a day where optimism outweighs depression.I think the only reason I still get up on any given morning is that it would hurt the people I love if I didn't.And I think it sucks that this has to be my impetus to go forward.You are not alone. I had the opportunity to watch the PBS childrens series "Telletubbies" this morning and as I watched them eat their oddly familiar pink "tubby custard" and then mention something that sounded like "meeple" afterwards I came to a rather astonishing conclusion.Custard sucked from a swirling straw that resembles an esophagus.Meeple. Only one conclusion:PEOPLE.Tubby custard is made from PEOPLE!!! AAAGH!!!!

A Higher Calling That Has Nothing To Do With God(And everything)

Annoying Relatives(And The Big Picture)

First and foremost this is for some good friends who are sorely in need of a parable.Secondly this post has nothing to do with my life now.But it has a lot to do with friends who may have left home without seeing the big picture.
I had an Aunt once.When I lived with her and my Grandma and other aunts and my uncle I felt that each encounter with her was akin to Chinese water torture.She was judgemental and had a superiority complex that would have been palpable were she not 4 years older than me.I believe that in the time we were together I suffered socially as my friends were afraid of her and my self esteem took a serious beating.As time rolled on I took comfort in the fact that the rest of my family was a gift from God and no amount of quibbling from and about her would change that.In time she and I had a massive blowout which ended up with the two of us locked in a room until we worked out our differences.I found that her toughness was her way of getting me to avoid a lot of pitfalls.That her superiority play was to challenge me mentally.She had a major impact on my life after that and I swear there were times I wish she was around to kick some sense into me.I loved her with all my heart after that.I lost her last year.She died at 50 from cancer.I spoke with her days before she left this plane.And it was almost comforting.But I will go to my maker knowing that I never said enough to her about how my life was impacted.

Some of you are in this position now.The angry kid and the aunt.And you want to book out the door.And I implore you.Yes,there are those who do not want you with that aunt.For their own reasons.But are those reasons enough to leave home?

Please know that my reasons for this are selfish too.You are people that I love and I don't want to head for the house knowing you are not there.

Just think about it

About 30 years ago I got caught up in a comic book called(at the time)Green Lantern/Green Arrow.This was the first(sorry Frank Miller)attempt at portraying super heroes in the real world.It covered a journey of discovery across America for Lantern,Arrow,and a Guardian as they sought to find where the heart of this country was and how to help solve some problems.One such sojourn took them to an Indian diner where they were served the diners best(and only)dish...beans.As the Guardian took his first bite he remarked on how the dish reminded him of the G'neesh the inhabitants of Sirius 7 ate.Arrow commented that it reminded him of what mom made on one of her better days.I remember not only the story and the verbiage but I had my own version of G'neesh and when I felt sad and overwhelmed I would make it.It wasn't "comfort food".It was my food that centered me.That was mine and mine alone.It was the food that proppeled me forward.
The recipe?Doesn't matter.(but email me if you want the recipe)No,we all have our own G'neesh.A food that brings us to not just a comfort zone but to a positive place.I have heard of those who seek out Grandmas soup,Mac and cheese(boxed!)because it brings them back to the salad days,when money was scarce and you did not care.The world was right there in front of you.There for the taking.
So when it seems that life has you as bogged down as the inhabitants of the Mount Washington observatory in January.Obtain some G'neesh.

I have a message for you today.When the world seems to be nothing but madness.When your fellow man is as appealing for good inspiration as a pus sandwich,look into the eyes of a child.My grandson is beyond cool.He is vibrant>he is inspiring.He is AWESOME!You want to lower your blood pressure?I kick back with Jordyn and watch Videos(He knows all the words to "Feel Good Inc. by Gorillaz)Fishie videos,nursery Rhymes.Wrestling.He knows every WWE and Tna star.We talk about everything and I don't understand half of what he is saying and honestly don't care to.His enthusiasm is infectious.And love.Real true love is in my heart.My relationships are train wrecks.Even the best friendships have ebbs and flows.Me and Jordyn.Hey,he just wants to spend time with me.I will take that.

A Couple Of Apologies

My first is to you,my readers in general.I have been going through some emotional stuff lately and it has been hard to post.I am working on a series of sermons and will be setting them up this weekend so stay tuned.
The second is more personal.The last month my best friend and I have put on a spoof at the Wrestlingmark site.This action worried and then enraged two folks who I love very much.I consider myself blessed to have friends like this and want them to know I meant them no distress.Please forgive me and know that ir is rare in this world to find people who TRULY care.And I say with all certainty that if I was in trouble you would be called immediatly.

What is one to do?My life has been turned into a living hell by my best friend all because I exposed him as a traitor.Instead of (heaven forbid)apologizing he has taken it upon himself to start a slander campaign.If only it were easy to brush aside the horrible machinations he has wrought.I cannot when my sanity is being questioned by many good friends. How in the name of all that is holy,how did this happen?How did we as a Nation gets taken along this wave of hope?How did EVERY news network get this story wrong.Does NO ONE CHECK THEIR FACTS???Twelve miners survive!!It's a miracle!Let's interview the happy families!!Oh..wait.Ummm...there has been a mistake.
Huh.The mining company knew there was a mistake 20 freakin minutes after the first report.And waited 3 hours to tell the families.
We at the Church send out joy to the man who survived and hope for the best.And to the families of those twelve who were ressurected by the media.We are sorry.We still have a lot to learn.Sometimes we are just morons.
One of the first thing you are taught in any course of journalism is to check your facts and then check them again.This was not done.

Which brings us to brother Doug.Doug and I have shared a friendship running 2 decades.He has always been a proud Italian American as I have always been a proud Italian/Russian American.It does you well in life to embrace your heritage and I always gave Doug credit.Until now.Until I heard...

Often I quote biblical scripture.But today I give a differing view.Remember,this COULD be true.But it's doubtful.
Some background.The Prophecy Club was in its heyday in the late 90's.They had a 2 hour block on a religious radio station and they spent every moment warning us of the 2K disaster awaiting us along with selling food packs for a family of 4 for a year for a couple thousand bucks.Lots of folks believed them.And were pretty pissed off when we didn't get engulfed in flames.They faded away(skulked really)and by all accounts dissapeared.But they never left.They live on in cyberspace.And they still hold meetings.Check this out:

First,sorry for the lack of posts.Lots of distractions these days.Luckily the course of all things has proven true and I enter here now a new man.Solitary and newly energized.So the lessons will continue.but first.Here is a plug.
Hopefully you have a Dollar Tree store in your area.If not,let me know and I will pick some of these up for you.It's the bible on CD.At a buck per lesson,you get serious knowledge for your $ and you have 56 chapters to choose from.No crappy music.No bells and whistles.Just a baritone and the word.Get it.Play it in your car.It is the best way to search out biblical knowledge without reading.

Kids,they can drive you...mellow

No preaching today.There will be enough of that as we count down to Christmas.Or really any of the Holy days.Nope.This is a father/grandpa story.I am as guilt as any in blaming my children for all sorts of ailments and nervous tics.Hey,that is one of the reasons we have them.Our parents never missed the opportunity to tell us how we were slowly killing them!Why should we be denied the fun?But today..oh man!Just let me tell you.

First there was my son Cody.He is at the age where he is ten and desperatly trying to be 16.He is cursed with a best friend who is 12 and thus is egging him on.But today was the topper.Cody is fixated on breasts.Oh he hasn't really seen them much and the girls his age do not have them yet but he has come up with a solution.Being a big kid he has discovered that if he squeezes his chest together..voila!Boobs!I made it a point to inform him that this in fact was twisted.But immediatly afterwards went outside and began to laugh so hard I coughed up a lung.This is what children bring to the table.God bless them.

Second story.This past Friday one of my PWF brothers asked what I would do if they died in the ring.Without missing a beat I said that I would tell the crowd that he was like a brother to me and that just this evening he said that if something were to happen to him his spot would go to ...Me!This is my spot!Mine Mine Mine!.While beating my chest.I related this story to the kids and for the rest of the evening my grandson Jordyn has been shouting "This is my spot!Mine Mine Mine!"While beating his chest.Sounds really funny coming from a three year old.He also does an excellent Mr.Kennedy.

If you have kids do take time to chat today.It is better than therapy.

This evening I had the opportunity to see a clip of our president fielding questions at a speech stop.For a switch these questions were not sent via screened lists and I was(and am)impressed.But not convinced.I don't trust him.Nor do I trust the opposition.Everyone has a freakin agenda and not one of them can appreciate the plight of those with no power.Thus I quote my favorite lyricist Todd Rundgren from a great song called Fair Warning:

"You know, wishing won't make it so.Hoping won't do it, praying won't do it.Religion won't do it, philosophy won't do it.The supreme court won't do it,the president and the congress won't do it.The UN won't do it, the H-bomb won't do it,the sun and the moon won't do it.And God won't do it,and I certainly won't do it.That leaves you, you'll have to do it."

You know how much work it takes to make a change?All you need do is get ten people to see your plan.Get them to register to vote.Have them do the same.You may doubt your own voice but rest assured.We are many.Those against are few.Stop thinking that your voice doesn't count!This is NOT affirmative thinking.It is FACT!Who do you believe in if not you?I have a good friend,a member of our wrestling family who is going to college so that kids who need an advocate will have one.While taking care of kids full time and working.You can't find time to make your voice heard?Write a letter to the editor at your newspaper.And keep writing until they publish.Send an email to your congressman.Let him know you are pissed and you want answers.Have friends do the same.Let them know you are not alone.Flex your muscles.Do it today!

How Do You Take A Break?

This came to me today.I wonder how you,my friends,deal with stress.My answer used to be that I put my brain into a different chemical setting.I now can say that this plan while quite effective is,in the long run,counterproductive.IE:It can kill you.But I have found a way out.It requires a few things
1)Suspension of belief.Hey!We are wrestling people.We do that all the time.
2)Focus at leisure.Not that hard.we do this when we watch a good movie and hone in on specifics.
3)Taking yourself out of yourself.Easy.Just follow me.

Buy a travel book.I suggest either Frommers guides or Hunter Rivages.I am currently into the Caribbean Frommers.What it is consists of reviews and overviews on hotels,resorts,resteraunts and culture.Written so you can feel the tastes,the weather,hell you can feel the softness of the beds!Lose yourself for a bit.Find a travel video if you wish.I guarentee that if you give it a try you will lower your blood pressure,unknot some muscles and with time be able to take yourself to this place in your mind with just a thought.It is a great feeling that I hope you will consider trying.No religion in this message.Just good thoughts

Blowing Off A Lot Of Steam

Some days it just gets to you.Today I saw a story about an upcoming Ring Of Glory card.Though I question the sincerity of the organization I applaud the effort to bring a message to young people of the wonder of accepting and embracing a spiritual path.And then I see HIS name.Lex Luger..why?Why?
Lex Luger is a hedonistic bit of excrement who has done NOTHING IN HIS MISERABLE LIFE TO BENEFIT ANYONE BUT HIM!!!!
Think I am being judgemental here?Let me qualify.I am far from a complete person.But I put the REAL me out there for all of you.I am a recovering addict.I have a wonderful relationship with an incredible young woman who has seen in me a person who she feels is worthy to be the man in her life.I am not really in the best of health and besides being partially deaf I have both balance and heart issues.I live every day that I have left with this credo.My family knows I treasure them.My love knows that I am true and my friends,which you all are,know that I preach only to help and never to profit.
Having said that I proclaim the aforementioned person(Mr.Luger)as the sort of bandwagon jumping troll one sees in the heart of the meandering crestfallen.No personal responsibility.No self blame.Got a clue for ya pal.God knows everyone on the bus.You cannot hide from your maker behind the coats of your friends.You are shallow and vain and I am sure that the big guy doesn't like it.You made your pound of flesh and you squandered it all.The path to new material gain should not come from the Father.You make me want to VOMIT!!

Help For Two Friends

How rare the opportunity to aid more than one of my brethren,each with their own succinct problem with words that wil aid both directly.The first is a very dear friend who finds himself at a crossroads at his chosen vocation.Another at the divide of the river of his career.I begin with the following comment
"Nothing disciplines the inordinate desires of the flesh like service, and nothing transforms the desires of the flesh like serving in hiddenness. The flesh whines against service but it screams against hidden service. It strains and pulls for honor and recognition. "--Richard Foster

We feel as if all of our good works go for naught without recognition.This is true for the steady performer with a history of exemplary service as well as those who are on the road to excelance from the view of a new beginning.When,oh when,will others take note?I go to a frequent source of comfort for our next quote

"I long to accomplish a great and noble task; but my chief duty is to accomplish small tasks as if they were great and noble "- Helen Keller

And finally.what can give me succor to the hunger I have for notice to be taken?An interesting quote from the Reverend Billy Graham on the subject of diligance:

"I was taught that laziness was one of the worst evils, and there was dignity and honor in labor. I could abandon myself enthusiastically to milking the cows, cleaning out the latrines, and shoveling manure, not because they were pleasant jobs, certainly, but because sweaty labor held its own satisfaction."

Plain talk here.We always love praise.We often get none.I have recieved very little feedback on this ministry.It does not deter me.For it is the work which must comfort me.The belief in myself and this cause, the logs that support the fire.I bid you peace

At Thanksgiving

There are many views prevelent about the celebration of Thanksgiving.One goes to the fact that the celebration is of little comfort to the American Indian whose kindness and indeed charity to the clueless new settlers were repaid by massacres and the taking of their land.I am going to go against that concept by pointing out that most of our ancesters have no connection to the first harvest.And none to the bad outcome.And that this holiday today has nothing to do with a feast between teachers and students unless you count that situation between parent and child.No.We celebrate all that we are thankful for.

Every day we look at the beauty in our children,nephews,neices,little ones who amaze us with the joyful innocence of a life we secretly envy.we cheer on those among our family who rise up and seize their moment.We comfort and love those who need us because they and we ARE us.So today I ask of you my family to take a moment and give to whatever power moves you,thanks for the wonderous things.For today celebrate the triumphs first.To seek the good in our lives.And to remember that we are all connected.And always will be.

Great statement,greater still when one knows the author.Hellen Keller.A woman who had no sight.No hearing.yet she knew.If you fail to try to make your voice heard you deny both your message and your potential audience.If you do not give of your wisdom you fail in serving your contemporaries.So todays sermon goes out to a friend of mine who wishes to let his voice be heard yet fears his skills of comunication.You must do as you told me.Be true to yourself.Be real.

Eddie Guerrero was in many ways the embodiment of our dreams.That final proof that you can rise from the abyss and find not only light but lifting.That faith and the love of your family and friends can bolster you and help drive you past the bad choices you have made in your life.That you can excel at what you do and understand the difference at last between what is fleeting and what is forever.Eddie made a covenent with his lord and healed the rift in his family while competing at the highest level of his profession.He was an inspiration to those of us who have been crestfallen.
And an inspiration he should remain.The casting of his flesh does not..no WILL not in any way diminish what he accomplished as both a performer and a man.Is this a cautionary tale.Only in this.The decision you make today on what you put in your body should from now on be interjected by the lesson of a fallen comrade.The damage you do in your youth carries consequences.And no amount of money can equal those costs.
This is a tragedy and yet we should be celebrating a life that endures in memory.A smile we will never put out of our mind.I conclude this sermon with a quote from 1 corinthians 13: 9-10

"For our knowledge is fragmentary and our prophecy is fragmentary.But when the complete and perfect comes,the incomplete and imperfect will vanish away'

Goodbye Eddie.You left a lot of people who loved you behind.

I am not stupid.I know that most folks have been busting it all week and do not need to be lectured.Thats why Sunday services have always been silly to me.So,instead I give you this positive message and spare you till sunday night. From John 13:34 "I give you a new commandment:that you should love one another.Just as I have loved you ,so you too should love one another" Have fun.Play safe

Are you having one of those days?You know,when your downstairs neighbor who hasn't paid her bills in MONTHS falls in love via the internet and invites an inbred redneck to come live with her sans money or job?And she skips the annoying detail of telling you?And she doesn't go to work all week?Instead she stays home and gets drunk with him?So she might not have a job and if she does she won't have any money anyways?And you just want to choke the hell out of EVERYONE!!!??!!!

I digress.How was YOUR week so far.I bet it is just as stressful....did I mention he is from Alabama.And he has not been in a state of sober since he left the flight to here?..anyway.here is a lovely quote from Matthew 11:28

"Come to me,all you who labor and are heavy laden and overburdened,and I will cause you to rest"

See.God can make it all better.(Or kill you,this is some really ambiguous stuff here.cause you to rest?)
